The Wii Balance Board is included in the Wii fit package an enables players to perform various different exercises whilst recording many different calculations.

The Balance Board contains many pressure sensors which allow the software to take accurate weight readings, and when combined with height data allow the system to calculate an accurate BMI (body mass index) reading for the user. Shigeru Miyamoto has also stated that the Balance Board's ability to measure weight is probably more accurate than that of a typical bathroom scale.

Currently the Nintendo title Wii Fit is the only software package that uses the Wii Balance Board hardware, although it is widely believed Nintendo will release more titles in the near future that will also utilise the Balance Board hardware. A strong contender is a snow boarding style title.
